One of the things that you're going to have to do in self publishing before you bring a book to market is have it edited. This can include such things as proofreading as well as making sure that the book has consistency from beginning to end. Even though a publisher will be able to take care of this process for you, many authors do this work themselves or hire a third party to take care of it in order to save the money that the publisher would charge. If you do decide to take care of this process yourself, make sure that you get somebody else to proofread it as it is very difficult to check your own work in this way.
