I’ve been reading up on
Charitable Lead Trusts Charitable Uni-Trusts and learned some surprising things. For example, you can use them to save on taxes before you pass away, while still drawing income from your gift.
The more I learn about the Retained Life Estate, the more interested I become in using charitable trusts as a way to save on taxes and support causes I believe in at the same time.
Naturally the kids will be less than thrilled, but of course it’s that very attitude that has me wanting to give most of the money to charity in the first place. I wish they could see that.
