I resisted the idea of getting a cell phone to the last…I may have actually been the last person in my state to get one! When I first got a cell phone, there was no such animal as prepaid cell phone packages.

The best I could get at that time was the very minimum network access fee (it may have been as much as $20 a month, if I remember correctly), and at least 30 cents a minute for peak time calls.
