The two main type of laptop batteries

Posted by admin

Your laptop gets the main power for most of it’s systems from a large rechargeable battery, usually mounted either on the back of the laptop (Dells are like this in a lot of cases, for example), or on the underside of the laptop (like an Apple laptop, for example).  This battery drives the CPU, hard drive, CD or DVD (or Blu-Ray, if your laptop is so equipped), and the LCD screen components, like the backlight and CCFL.  Sometimes this battery no longer charges up as much as it used to, so it may be time for a replacement battery.  You could buy a third-party battery like a kds laptop battery or one from the original equipment manufacturer of the laptop.  The other battery is the laptop cmos battery, which holds the BIOS settings and powers the system clock.
