One of the most popular benefit programs for the disabled American citizens is the Social Security Disability Benefits program. The eligibility for this program is dependent on the years of work in the last 10 years and the amount of money earned during these working years. For an applicant over 30 years of age it is required that they have worked for at least 5 years out of the last 10 years. Also it is necessary that the applicant should be physically or mentally disabled to perform his/her past job. In short the applicant must not be able to earn his/her living himself/herself.
