Can a medical bill affect your credit if you are making payment?

I had a medical bill go to collections. The agency told me that in a few days it will affect my credit unless paid in full. What if I made monthly payments? Will if affect my Credit? I don’t trust anything the agency tells me, because they’ll say anything to get the money. the surgery I had was a mistake by the hospital. I’ve tried to fight it, and am refusing to pay. Any input would help.

It can affect your credit if it has gone to collections. Your best option is to call them to set up a payment plan and put it in writing. They have to report it to the credit agencies that your are making payment and your account will not show as delinquent.

refusing to pay is understandable, but you will just screw yourself in the long run. it will go against your credit and YOU will have to deal with this…won’t effect the collector so much.

try setting up a payment plan with the agency. i have heard in the past that if you are making a payment that bills can’t go to collections, but that’s not true.

you will regret your decision not to pay later. suck it up and do it now.
