Can I include in my bankruptcy a medical bill that I received a partial payment on from my insurance company?

Erin asked:
I had a stroke in 2006, I was 27. My credit has since suffered terribly because of being out of work. The majority of my debt is medical bills. I was airlifted from one hospital to another, I received a partial payment for the flight but used it to pay my mortgage. I was facing foreclosure. Will I be able to include that bill? It’s $13,000.00, the insurance company sent me a check for 5,000.

I’m pretty sure you can include anything that hasn’t been co-signed by someone else.

You need to Include everything, but I recommend that you see a Lawyer First.. Get some Options First.

Yes, you can include it. But when you go to your creditors meeting the hospital may show up and try to fight it. But it seems this happened in 2006, correct? If so, you should be fine. Please check with a lawyer though. And here’s a GREAT sight for this kind of info. The folks on the boards here are awesome,
