If you are applying for food stamps they will not withhold food stamps because you owe medical bills even if they are past due. If you are applying for food stamps you might also look into health care programs and see if you qualify income wise. The only way you will not receive food stamps is if you have a felony, are not a legal us resident or immigrant or have been convicted of receiving food stamps illegally.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (new name of program that supports Food Stamps) has an online eligibility analysis tool you can use to see if you will qualify. Spend a few minutes using the tool and see what your chances are:

Before you begin, you may want to look up the amounts of your earnings, rent or mortgage, utility bills, child support, day care expenses, medical bills (if you are 60 or older, or disable), child support payments or SSI, social security or VA payments
