I got a bill from collection. The bill was occured on May 10, 2002. I could not locate my medical insurance at that time. Do I need to pay the bill?

yes, unless you want it as a strike on your credit

Yes, it can still go to collections.

It will stay on your credit report for 7 years, even if the statute of limitations has passed. If you don’t want your credit messed up, pay the bill.

If this thing is 5 years old though, you might want to check your states statute of limitations on bills. All states are different. Link below.

Yes. Bills don’t “expire”. There is no time limit on how long they can try to collect.

You need to figure out who your insurance is though. Call your old job, or something… But, yes… Its your bill. The doctor/hospital the bill is coming from will probably know who your insurance carrier was… Unless that’s the reason they’re billing you. :)
