In the USA's for-profit, non universal health care system, the answers is that you have the "right" to see a doctor if you can afford to pay him/her. Don't have the money or coverage? You'll have to find another doctor that you can afford...or you'll have to go to a free clinic.... I’m surprised by the callousness of some of these answers…

How long would you keep going. Well that's what you're doing to that doctor. You want him to keep working for you, but you are not paying him. Come on guy, did you really have to ask this question?

Well that’s what you’re doing to that doctor. You want him to keep working for you, but you are not paying him.

Unless they have been practicing for years, that is unlikely the case. Most doctors leave medical school with $150000+ of student loans. It takes them years of practicing to start making any "real" money. And if they have there own office they have a lot of start up costs. Most medical offices allow plenty of time for patients to pay = 3-6 months is the norm. If your bill went to collections, it's much more than paying late. If all patients acted like you, how would the doctor pay the staff and other expenses (office/equipment/materials) The doctor decided to fill the appointment calendar with someone who would pay. Given the choice, wouldn't you? You can call and ask if you can continue seeing this doctor in the future. The doctor may be more likely to consider it, if you offer to pay for all future appointments on the date of service. You may think that doctors are rolling in money.
